What is your career story?

I've always been fascinated by technology and how it can quite literally, change the world. After graduating with a business degree, I stumbled upon a role in tech recruitment and never looked back! Working in tech recruitment allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the tech industry and develop a knack for identifying top talent and matching these candidates with the right opportunities.

I later moved into an internal Talent Acquisition role where I gained invaluable experience in workforce management software and other aspects of the tech industry. I love how fast-paced and ever-evolving this field is, and how software can solve real-world problems.

As a woman in the tech industry, my top priority is to ensure that every candidate has an equitable opportunity to succeed. I'm deeply committed to breaking down barriers and promoting diversity and inclusivity, which can help eliminate recruitment biases and level the playing field for everyone.

I strongly believe that providing opportunities to under-represented groups is essential for the future of this dynamic and ever-evolving field. With diverse perspectives, skills, and backgrounds, we can drive innovation and progress, leading to better solutions for real-world problems. I'm proud to be part of this effort and will continue to advocate for a more inclusive and diverse tech industry!

What does International Women's Day mean to you?

International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the incredible contributions and achievements of women around the world. It's a reminder of the progress we've made, but also a call to action to continue fighting for gender equality. IWD is a time to uplift and support the women in our lives, and to reflect on the work that still needs to be done to create a more just and equitable society for all of us.

What is it like working in the technology industry and what are some of the challenges you have experienced?

Working in the tech industry is incredibly exciting but also pretty challenging, especially for women. On one hand, you get to be part of this ever-evolving world of innovation and creativity that's changing the way we live, work, and play. On the other hand, it's still a boys' club in many ways, and women often have to deal with all kinds of bias, discrimination, and unfair treatment.

Some of the biggest challenges for women in tech include things like unequal pay, limited career opportunities, and not seeing enough women in leadership roles or tech startups. It's not always easy to break through those barriers and find your place in the industry, especially when you're dealing with stereotypes, harassment, or just plain old sexism.

And let's not forget work-life balance, which can be tough when you're working crazy hours, dealing with intense pressure, and trying to make a name for yourself in a super competitive field. But despite all the challenges, there are plenty of awesome women who are killing it in tech and paving the way for more diversity and innovation in the industry.

Are there any assumptions about women in the workplace that you want to challenge or change?

It's frustrating to see people still clinging to the outdated notion that women are only suited for certain jobs, which not only limits opportunities for women but also harms progress in society as a whole. These assumptions can be harmful and have a limiting effect on women's professional advancement. It is therefore crucial to counteract these biases and work towards developing an inclusive and equitable work environment that enables every individual to reach their full potential.
